REGIONAL AWARD WINNERS FOR 2000
Region 1 – Wilmington District Water Safety Team
Representatives from five District reservoir projects joined together to promote water safety throughout Virginia and North Carolina.
Region 2 – George R. Angstadt III
Mr. Angstadt has been a volunteer for the PA Fish and Game Commission for 12 years, and has sponsored many boating safety programs in the region.
Region 3 – Nashville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Water Safety Taskforce
This multi-agency taskforce developed and implemented a partnership to promote water safety throughout a three state area.
Region 4 – Mobile District Water Safety Task Force
During 1999 the Task Force developed programs to educate non-English speaking visitors in water safety and presented programs to more than 150,000 visitors in Alabama and portions Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.
Region 5 – Andy Lee, Benton County, AR, S.D.
Mr. Lee’s Boating Safety Team is the premier water safety organization in north Arkansas and the region and supports other agencies water safety efforts in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
Region 5 – Eugene Goff, Tulsa District, USACE
For the past 20 years Mr. Goff has developed and presented hundreds of water safety programs and has influenced water safety on a local, regional, and national level.
Region 6 – Wappapello Lake Project Office
Since its inception in 1997 the Ranger Willie B. Safe campaign has been adopted regionally and nationally, improving effectiveness of public safety education programs nationwide.
Region 7 – Todd Baker, Clark Co., WA Sheriff’s Office
Mr. Baker is recognized for excellence in the development of a website which serves as an educational resource for recreational boaters throughout the world.
Region 8 – Clark County Boat Facilities and Safety
Commission, Clark County, NV
The commission is recognized for 15 years of volunteer effort that has provided boating safety programs for Lake Mead, Lake Mohave, and the Colorado River basin.
