Developed and implemented the Connecticut Boater Certification
Program. This is
the only program of its kind in the United States and other
countries and states have shown great interest
Region 3—Richard

Developed a model act to regulate motor boat sound levels and voluntarily trained boating enforcement officers in sound level enforcement techniques, met with prosecuting attorneys and served as expert witness

Developed and implemented a water safety campaign using college football head coaches Phil Fulmer, Mike Dubose and Hal Mumme to promote water safety in personal appearances on more than 100 billboard in Tennessee, Alabama and Kentucky

Developed marine enforcement officer safety programs. Example: Emergency Vessel Operator Course
Region 6—Michael
Grupa, Stearns Inc.
Demonstrated his dedication to water safety across the region. Assisted in water, ice and river rescue training classes, demonstrating the various types of PFDs and their applications
Region 7—Joel Morales & Laura Beauregard
Developed 11 Multi-lingual (Hispanic, Hmong &English) 30 second TV PSAs on water safety topics. Audience focused on covering kids through adults
Region 8—Dr. Robert L. Baron, Jane Brown McCammon
Since the deaths of two young boys who succumbed to carbon monoxide while house boating at Lake Powell in 2000, Dr. Baron and Ms. McCammon have been relentless in their efforts to insure that these needless deaths are not repeated.
