Safe Boating Fair

Erie Safe Boating Council An introduction to a
successful program, that raises awareness of safe boating practices
through a kid's fair. The event has approximately 2000 visitors on
Memorial Day weekend in it's first year of operation. Karl
Yanuzzi, describes the activities and shares with you how their
program generated interest and attendance and achieved $19 million
in media coverage this past year.
The Lake Erie Safe Boating
Council's "Kids Safe Boating Fair" earned the top honor of 2001
Youth Program of Excellence. The Cleveland based program is credited
with raising awareness of safe boating practices through a kid's
fair on the Cleveland lakefront. Last year's event drew
approximately 2000 visitors. The event is scheduled to kick off on
June 1 this year. Program coordinator Mr. Karl Yanuzzi, accepted the
award along with a $2500 check from West Marine to help with the
continue success of their program.
The Boating Education Advancement and
Youth Program of Excellence Awards are presented annually by the
National Safe Boating Council recognize outstanding programs that
promote the Council's mission: "Safer Boating Through Education". The
National Safe Boating Council is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization
that is comprised of nearly 300 national, regional, and local
boating and water safety agencies and
corporations.
